Welcome
On behalf of Dr.
Rodrigo Munoz, past president of the San Diego County Medical Society
and Dr. Bud Beck, Senior Consultant, Scripps Health, co-chairs of the
San Diego Diabetes Coalition, we would like to welcome you to our website.
Diabetes-sandiego.org was
created
to
trasmit,
share
and
gather
diabetes
information and resources that are beneficial to individuals, families,
policy makers, businesses and area residents living in San Diego county
with hopes of transforming how we, the community, respond to this chronic
disease.
The San Diego Diabetes Coalition first met on May 24, 2004
with the intent for its public/private business, agency and
organization members to collaborate
their needed resources to care for all people with diabetes in San Diego
county with hopes of decreasing the severe consequences of this disease
if left uncontrolled. After another year of organizational
discussions and increased
membership, the Coalition decided that it needed formalize its structure.
With an initial grant from the County of San Diego's Health and Human Services
Agency, the Coalition's Steering Committee was able to hire staff to lead
the organization through a strategic planning process to identify and implement
a countywide response with tangible outcomes. We invite you to browse this
developing site to find out more about our organization and learn more
ways on how you can get involved with reducing the threat of
diabetes in our lifetime.
Sincerely,
Dr. Bud Beck, Co-Chair,
San
Diego Diabetes Coalition
